Bamboo Flattening Machine is a technologically advanced tool designed for the processing of raw bamboo into engineered components for use in high-value building and furniture products. The walls of the conduits also developed tiny discontinuous cracks of diameter 1 mm. As a result, the original porous structure of bamboo cross sections underwent structural collapse, resulting in a decrease in toughness and rigidity.
The bending strength and elastic moduli of flattened bamboo boards are listed in Tab. 2. The process of flattening bamboo exerts significant stress on the bamboo fibers. The nails that penetrate the bamboo tubes' inner surfaces create a large contact area with the surface of the bamboo, resulting in the flattening of thin-walled cells. The resulting material has a higher bending strength than the untreated bamboo.
Bamboo is a natural product, and the physical properties of each sample differ significantly. Therefore, the process of flattening bamboo should be based on the individual material's properties. The GB/T 15780-1995 national standard is the best basis for determining its mechanical properties. Bamboo culms are composed of amorphous chemical phases, such as cellulose and glycine, which become rubbery at high temperatures. Once this happens, the bamboo is ready for flattening into a flattened bamboo board.
The temperature and type of treatment should be carefully chosen for each material. At lower temperatures, the L* values remained within the range of 48-64. However, when the temperature increased to 160degC, they lowered to 24-48. Moreover, the b* value was not affected by the treatment temperature and remained within a range of 12-24. It decreased to four-16 at 180degC. The results are promising for the development of a high-quality flattening machine.
The development of the bamboo flattening technology has been made possible by scientists who have incorporated physicochemical mechanisms. With the help of the bamboo flattening machine, manufacturers can increase the utilization rate of bamboo, reduce the amount of adhesive required, and create products with higher added value.
